Lazio

Federico Marchetti – 6 – Injury
Was alert off his line on a couple of occasions and dealt with anything that came into his penalty area, which wasn’t a lot. Came off injured after 82 minutes which ultimately cost his side.

Abdoulay Konko – 6 – Solid
Defensively sound on the rare occasions he was tested and did try to get forward at times but was unable to really contribute anything of note to the attack.

Wesley Hoedt – 6 – Untroubled
Coped easily with an out-of-sorts Cassano and had very little to deal with otherwise, although substitute Muriel was more of a threat.

Santiago Gentiletti – 6 – Steady
Made a couple of good blocks and timely interventions but was untroubled for large periods of the game as Sampdoria only increased their attacking ambitions towards the end of the game.

Stefan Radu – 6.5 – Strong
Good all-round performance from the Romanian who defended capably at left-back and provided the assist for Matri’s header.

Lucas Biglia – 6 – Calm
A calming presence in the home side’s midfield and the captain’s influence was important as Lazio held onto their lead near the end of the game.

Danilo Cataldi – 5.5 – Unseen
A forgettable night for the young midfielder who didn’t really get involved in the game at all before being withdrawn at half-time and replaced by Felipe Anderson.

Marco Parolo – 6 – Work
Got through his usual shift in the Lazio engine room but wasn’t quite able to make as many forward runs as he usually would.

Antonio Candreva – 6.5 – Effort
Displayed all his usual energy and, as is often the case, was his side’s biggest threat but ultimately failed to produce anything to trouble the visitors’ goal.

Filip Djordjevic – 5.5 – Missing
Anonymous for most of the game although wasn’t presented with any opportunities to test Viviano.

Miroslav Klose – 5.5 – Starved
Didn’t get any chances of note in order to display his finishing abilities which resulted in a quiet game for the veteran. Substituted after 66 minutes.

Substitutes

Felipe Anderson (46 minutes) – 6 – Energy
Looked lively and made a valuable contribution prior to Matri’s goal by stopping the ball going out of play.

Alessandro Matri (66 minutes) – 6.5 – Clinical
Proved his worth off the bench with an excellent headed goal in the 78th minute.

Etrit Berisha (82 minutes) – 5 – Erratic
Made two ill-judged decisions to come off his line, the second of which gave away the free-kick which led to Sampdoria’s equaliser.
