PREMIER LEAGUE / Chelsea: Costa breaks his nose in training

Published on: 12 February 2016

Chelsea striker Diego Costa suffered a broken nose in training on Thursday, although the 27-year-old is expected to be available for selection against Newcastle on Saturday, as confirmed by manager Guus Hiddink in his press conference.

"Yesterday, in training, Diego got in a duel and had his nose broken. It was not a tough duel but he put his nose on the back of the head of one of the youngsters from the academy. He was very unlucky", stated Hiddink.

The Spain international should, however, be able to line up against Newcastle at Stamford Bridge (18:30 CET) in what will be the team's 26th league fixture of the season.

The club's top goalscorer this season will wear a mask, just like teammate César Azpilicueta: "They are putting a mask on Diego as well, we are the team with a lot of masks", admitted Hiddink.

"We have a Zorro team. I think he will be available but we must see how he reacts in the light session. I hope, I am not sure, but I think he might be available", concluded the Dutchman.
