Russia 2018 Asian Qualifiers: China v Korea Republic preview

Published on: 22 March 2017

Changsha: The absence of Asia’s most expensive player, Son Heung-min, through suspension will be tough handicap to overcome for a Korea Republic side that faces a testing tie away to Marcello Lippi’s China PR on Thursday.

Uli Stielike’s team have claimed just one point from two away games, having played out a scoreless draw with Syria in September before being defeated 1-0 by Islamic Republic of Iran a month later.

Opponents China PR, though, have yet to score at home as goalless draws with Iran and Qatar either side of a 1-0 defeat to Syria have left Group A’s bottom side desperately in need of a win in Lippi’s second qualifier at the helm.
