Ex Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah has dismissed thoughts he lost control of the Black Stars dressing room leading up to his dismissal.
The 54-year-old in his first interview following his sacking which the Ghana FA claim was mutual, insists he always had control of the players in his camp.
Rumours are rife that the ex Black Stars captain was unable to man-manage the big egos within his camp despite ample evidence to the contrary.
Kwesi Appiah cracked the whip on Andre Ayew, Sulley Muntari and Kevin-Prince Boateng whenever they displayed recalcitrance.
But this negative perception of Appiahââ¬â¢s indecision remained and many believe it cost the nation dearly during the 2014 World Cup where Ghana crashed out of the tournament after the group stage.
But the soft-spoken coach is adamant he was firmly in control of his team at all times.
ââ¬ÅI keep hearing that the coach has lost control of the dressing room and I ask mysef what that is?â⬠he said on Metro TVââ¬â¢s Good Evening Ghana show.
ââ¬ÅIs it that the players donââ¬â¢t do what you want on the pitch and all that?
ââ¬ÅIf you got no control automatically the players will go onto the pitch and do what they want to walk away.
ââ¬ÅEven at the camp those who showed indiscipline were disciplined.ââ¬
