Shah Alam: Thailand began their SEA Games women’s futsal campaign in spectacular fashion, beating Vietnam 3-1 at the Panasonic Sports Complex on Friday.

After a goalless first half, Thailand took the lead minutes into the restart and Sasicha Photiwong doubled their advantage shortly after.

Thailand sealed the tie when Jiraprapa Nimrattansing’s shot found the back of the net for a 3-0 lead.

With minutes left on the clock, Vietnam activated the power play and grabbed a consolation through Nguyen Thi Hue.

Host nation Malaysia will take on Myanmar later on Friday.
