South African side SuperSport deny interest in Hasaacas' striker Quayson
Frederick Quayson was one of the top strikers in Ghana's Premier League last season

SuperSport United head coach, Cavin Johnson, has dismissed rumours that Ghanaian striker, Frederick Quayson, will be attending a trial at the club.

Reports in Ghana had explained that the Sekondi Hasaacas man was due to spend two weeks with Matsatsantsa as he looked to earn himself a contract in South Africa.

However, Johnson has informed the Siya crew that, as far as he knows, that is not the case, as the club is currently limiting the amount of foreign players that they look at on trial due to the ongoing issues with Home Affairs.

Johnson said, “I’ve had a few people ask me about him, but he’s not here and I don’t expect to see him on trial.

"We don’t know what’s happening with Home Affairs and the registering of players right now, so we’re not really looking at foreigners.”

SuperSport already have a number of new faces in their squad for the new season and will be hoping to bounce back from their recent MTN8 exit when they take on Wits.

Quayson is one of the players targeted by Kotoko for recruitment.
