STOKE CITY - Joe Allen: \"I wanted first-team football\"

Published on: 26 July 2016

On Monday, Stoke City secured the signing of Welsh international midfielder Joe Allen for £13m.

Allen told City's official website that it wasn't a difficult decision for him and Stoke manager Mark Hughes edged it for him with talk of the club's ambitions.

“He [Hughes] sold the club to me in terms of their ambitions moving forward.

"I wanted first-team football and for that reason it wasn’t too difficult [to move].

“I knew there was an opportunity like this here for me and it was easy to make the move.

“My ambition is to be a regular here and help Stoke City.

“They have been very stable in recent years and hopefully we can move upwards."
