Striker Matthew Amoah seeks Ghana return

Ghana international Matthew Amoah is still harbouring hopes of earning a recall into the national team.

The NAC Breda serial goal poacher has not played for the Black Stars after the 2010 Fifa World Cup finals in South Africa and head coach Goran Stevanovic is yet to consider him.

The ex-Borussia Dortmund and Vitesse Arnhem attacker who has proved his goal scoring credentials during qualifiers on the continent has not given up hopes of earning a call-up into the national team.

He told Citi FM: "Football is a game of chance and everyone wants to work hard and be in the squad. This year has not been my year and surely I will work hard to be part of the team."

"It's not only me who can qualify the tam for the World cup. Asamoah Gyan and others have been doing well but like I said it will always be great to be part of the team once again."

He has earned 40 caps and scored 13 goals since he bust unto the international scene in 2002.

Amoah finished as Ghana's leading scorer in the combined 2010 Nations Cup and World Cup qualifiers with five goals.

He also played in Ghana debut World Cup in 2006 even though he did not score in any of the matches he featured.
