Ghana midfielder Sulley Muntari is delighted to have his first pre-season with AC Milan.

The 28-year-old, who was signed in January 2012, sat out last season's pre-season with the Rossoneri after suffering a career-threatening knee injury while playing football with friends in his native country.

Muntari tore an anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee and was sidelined for five months after undergoing surgery.

"The rain yesterday (Tuesday) wiped out everything for us to start well. We are very motivated and want to do well this season," Muntari told AC Milan's official website.

''Yesterday was my first pre-season gathering since I have been at Milan because last year I was injured.

''I am pleased to be here, I want to make my contribution this year, just like my teammates because we want to make our fans happy.

''Vacation time is over and we are already focused on the job we have to do. Can we finish high up, we want to win."

Muntari made 24 appearances for the club in all competitions last season.
