Sulley Muntari vows to fight to regain his Ghana place

Ghana midfielder Sulley Muntari has vowed to fight to regain his place in the national team despite recent omission from the team.

Inter Milan ace has not been called to the Black Stars squad since the World Cup ended in South Africa in July.

It was speculated that the Italy-based midfielder was excluded because of the lack of playing time for the Serie A side.

But over the past two weeks he has been featuring for the club and scored last week in a league game.

Muntari was expecting to be called for the friendly against Saudi Arabia later this month in Dubai.

But he was disappointed to learn that he has once again been excluded insisting he will continue to work hard to win back his place in the squad.

“I am very disappointed over my exclusion from the squad for the Saudi Arabia game but I have not lost hope,” Muntari told Ghanasoccernet.com.

“Ghana is my country, it is the place I have and it is always a delight to wear the colours of the Black Stars to serve my nation.

“At the start of the season things were difficult for me but over the past few weeks things have improved and I was hoping to be part of the Black Stars.

“The only thing I have to do is to continue to work hard and fight for my place in the Black Stars and this is exactly what I will do.”

Muntari's exclusion is said to be a silent ban for alleged indiscipline during the World Cup in South Africa but the midfielder insists all have been amicably addressed.

"Where I made mistakes I apologised and learnt some lessons from it and crucially I have resolved not to repeat them," Muntari said.

"My apologies were accepted in good faith so I don't think there are any outstanding issues.

"I will call the leaders of the GFA to talk about this. But I am not aware that there are any issue. All I want to do is to play for my country."

Ghana will play Saudi Arabia in preparation towards next March’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Congo.
