Wilfried Bony has moved to allay Swansea's fears he could be caught up in the deadly Ebola outbreak.

The 25-year-old and his Ivory Coast team-mates are set to visit Sierra Leone in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier next month.

Sierra Leone has been the epicentre of the disease and Swansea boss Garry Monk was ready to take a hard-line stance and withdraw Bony from international duty for the game.

But the fixture is now set to be staged outside of Sierra Leone, meaning Bony is hopeful of being involved.

Bony, who scored twice for the Swans in the weekend win over Leicester, said: "I am not sure whether we are going to play in the Ivory Coast or the Congo, but next week maybe I will know exactly where we are going to play.

"But I don't think it will be in Sierra Leone. It is important for us to play in a safe country. It is a worry for everybody, because you don't want to get sick.
