Captain of Tema Youth Jacob Lawer has highlighted his encouraging words to his teammates before and during their game against Hearts as a major factor in the victory over the Rainbow Club.

A brace from Tema Youth striker Joseph Painstil sealed a hard fought 2-1 victory for the Tema based side to extend their unbeaten home run to four games.

Lawer says he had a word with his teammates before the game and urged them to put in a strong response after last weekend’s defeat to WAFA.

“We had already lost two in a row, and I told them there was no way we were going to make it three, especially with the home advantage.

I told them to go all out to win the game against Hearts of Oak, and that is exactly what we did. I had it in mind that we were going to win this game, even when the equalized.

My mates were all down after the equalizer but as a captain one of my responsibilities is to motivate them on the field of play to win.

I reminded them that the game was not over, and we were able to push forward and get the second goal,” he said.

The victory sent Tema Youth above Hearts into 6th place, and they have now picked up ten points from the seven games played.
