German Bundesliga II side Union Berlin are on the verge on missing out on signing Ghana defender David Addy because of their shoe-string budget.

Addy, who is available on a free transfer, impressed on trial but according to reports in Germany it will be had for the left back to pen a deal due to the low budget of the club.

Union coach Sascha Lewandowski praised Addy for his qualities and potentials but according newspaper reports, the only stumbling block is if the second-tier have the cash to recruit him.

"He brings a lot to the position - Ball security, peace, tactical understanding,” he said.

Moreover, Injured duo Fabian Schonheim (thigh injury) and Michael Parensen (forearm fracture) are expected to be fit after the international break so the club can afford to let him go.

Addy terminated his contract with KV Waasland Beveren this summer and can sign for any club even before the transfer window re-opens in January.
