Giants Hearts of Oak are confident on re-signing striker Uriah Asante for next season's campaign which begins on 9 October.

The youngster left the capital-based club following the expiration of his loan spell last season.

The budding midfielder is currently on trials with South African side Amazulu after impressing on pre-season with second-tier side Pure Joy FC.

But the club is not ruling out the possibility of getting the Ghana youth international for the new season.

''Yes he is in South Africa and depending on what happens, we are sure to have him in our fold next season,'' the club's PRO Albert Commey is quoted as saying.

''Asante was one of our best performers last season and if he gets a deal outside, then nobody can stand in his way. But these are trials and anything can happen even though we wish him the best of luck.

"The pre-season training is on and very soon we'll move to Akuse to stat serious business."

Heart of Oak will play in the proposed pre-season top-eight competition after placing 6th last term.
