The return of fit-again Ghana top-rated centre-backs Isaac Vorsah and Jerry Akaminko will further boost the Black Stars improving central defence ahead of the start of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers in November, GHANAsoccernet.com can reveal.
The two players were key central defenders for the Black Stars before injuries over the past two years robbed Ghana of the chance of playing them at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil last year.
Now both players have recovered ahead of the start of the major leagues in Europe which means they will be ready to play for the Black Stars if they stay fit.
Their return means that the two players will offer competition to John Boye, Jonathan Mensah and Daniel Amartey who have all played in that position in the absence of the duo.
Vorsah has been offered a lifeline to resuscitate his career at Austrian top-flight Liefering following the expiration of his contract with giants Red Bull Salzburg.
The Austrian side have taken up the 27-year-old Vorsah after he recovered from a two-year injury-induced absence.
The knee injury and subsequent complications blighted his bright start at Red Bull. Vorsah got injured in Spring 2013 and has since failed to attain full recovery in order to get match time.
The centre-back joined Red Bull from Hoffeinham in August 2012 where he went on to make 18 appearances for the club that season.
Akaminko suffered a heart-breaking injury just a day before Ghana named its squad for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and has now started pre-season with his Turkish club Eskeshirspor.
His return is also a boost for the Black Stars as there will be huge competition for places in the national team's central defence.
