Ghanaian young midfielder Alhassan Wakaso is keen to secure promotion back to the Portuguese top-flight with Portimonense after rejoining the club on loan from Rio Ave.
Alhassan arrived back at Portimonense from Rio in January to help them pursue their promotion agenda and has made two appearances for the club.
The 22-year-old who is a younger brother to Black Stars winger Wakaso Mubarak has explained the rationale behind his decision to return to Portimonense and also assesses their chances of gaining promotion to play in next season's Portuguese Primeira Liga.
"This is not a step back for me but I joined Portimonense to secure more playing time. Something which has not been happening at Rio Ave."
The former Cheetah FC midfielder admits he did not hesitate to return to Portimonense when the opportunity availed itself before of his past experience at the club.
"I accepted immediately. I've enjoyed many good seasons here in the past and I know the city well and have a strong relationship with the club, people and the coaches and also understand the system," he concluded.
