Ghana rallied to draw 1-1 with Canada in an international friendly played on Tuesday night in Washington, D.C.

The Black Stars who were missing star players Asamoah Gyan, Andre Ayew, Christian Atsu and Mohammed Rabiu struggled in both halves.

Canada, with four players making their international debut in the starting XI, enjoyed several impressive passages of play which featured crisp ball movement and fluid link-up play from front to back.

The Canucks took the lead through Marcel De Jong who scored a stunning long range goal from a full 35 yards away.

This was after a quickly taken free kick found him in space in the Ghanaian half.

With no defenders closing him down, he unleashed a laser-like strike directly into the far top corner of the goal with Brahmah only able to watch it fly past.

Canada was securely on the front foot in the first half so it was slightly against the run of play that Ghana equalized with the last kick of the first half.

Albert Adomah was played in behind the Canadian defence and expertly slide his low shot past ‘keeper Kenny Stamatopoulos.

Ghana coach Avram Grant handed debuts to all four newcomers named in the 19-man squad for the exhibition.

The Black Stars face Comoros Islands next month in a 2018 Russia World Cup qualifier.

Ghana’s starting XI: Razak Braimah, Agyemang, Badu, Jeffrey Schlupp, Edwin Gyimah, John Boye, Mubarak Wakaso, Albert Adomah, Jordan Ayew, Harrison Afful, Bernard Mensah, David Accam.
