Ghana striker Abdul Majeed Waris has revealed he will be fulfilling his childhood dream when he plays at Tamale Sports Stadium against Guinea next Wednesday.

The Ghana Football Association has confirmed that the Black Stars will for the first time in history play a competitive game in the Northern Regional capital.

The decision to play the second leg of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Guinea in the Northern capital was born out of the hostile reception the team received in Kumasi last month for the opener against Uganda.

Winger Mubarak Wakaso also hails from Tamale and the Ayew brothers Jordan and Andre have huge support from the region because of their father who played for Real Tamale United.

“When I heard the return game against Guinea was going to be played in Tamale I felt great. It gives the youth there an opportunity to see the stars and also motivate them,” the Trabzonspor man said

“I am going to feel great and pray that things go well for the team. Seeing my own people supporting me is going to be one great feeling.

“I think that the people of Tamale love their football and having to see the national team play at home will be great for the people too.”
