Yakubu Mohammed quits AshGold after rejecting offer to stay

Published on: 07 August 2012

Striker Yakubu Mohammed will leave Ashanti Gold after the club failed to lure him to renew his contract, MTNfootball.com understands.

The 23-year-old turned down a new offer from the Obuas-based club to prolong his stay last week.

Yakubu, who finished last season's Ghana Premier League second top scorer, has rejected offers from Tunisian duo CS Sfaxien and Etoile du Sahel last month.

Sunday's Ghana FA Cup final defeat to New Edubiase United is expected to be Yakubu's last game in a Miners shirt.

He scored 18 goals in all competitions for AshantiGold.
