Zonal women's League set for start

Despite Ghana's first round exit at the Fifa Under-17 Women’s World Cup, the women's game will take centre stage this weekend, when the Zonal Championships begins.

The competition is solely funded by the Ghana Football Association with the Women's League Board as organizers.

Women's clubs drawn from all the ten regions nationwide have been segmented into three zones to compete for qualifying places in the National Championship later this year.

Zone I with Sunyani as its venue would host teams from the Northern, Upper East, Upper West and Brong Ahafo Regions when the competition kicks off this weekend.

Takoradi would be the venue for Zone II sides which comprises of teams from the Ashanti, Eastern and Western Regions.

Clubs from the Greater Accra, Central and Volta Regions are in Zone III which has Cape Coast as its venue.
