In a quite surprising turn of events, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, has been hit with an unexpected setback in his quest for a permanent deal at English Championship side Leicester City.
On-loan from Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon, Issahaku made the difficult decision to withdraw from Ghana’s squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, prioritizing the fulfillment of the match requirements stipulated in his contract.
However, his recent game on Saturday 13 January 2024 against Coventry City, took an unforeseen turn when he received a straight red card, rendering him ineligible for selection until February 10.
Unfortunately, this date coincides with the conclusion of the Nations Cup in Ivory Coast.

The decision to withdraw from the national squad was undoubtedly a strategic move by Issahakuto align with the terms of his contract but the latest development leaves him ashen-faced.
Maybe, just maybe, he should have gone to the Nations Cup.
The 19-year-old has been a key member of Leicester team pushing for promotion this season.
He has made 17 starts in 23 league appearances and scored two goals.
