"Afriyie Barnieh reminds me of myself"- Ex-Hearts star Charles Taylor extols forward

Former Hearts of Oak midfielder, Charles Taylor, has praised forward Daniel Afriyie Barnieh following his match winner for the club in the FA Cup against Bechem United.

The player, who turned 21 on Sunday, brilliantly met a cross from Gladson Awako to score the winner for Hearts of Oak.

Afriyie Barnieh has been the club's livewire since last season, helping them to back-to-back FA Cup triumphs and the 2020/21 league title.

“Afriyie Barnieh reminds me of myself in my prime. The goal he scored yesterday was quite difficult for any player to score. The run and technique was excellent and if this goal had been scored by a player in Europe, he’d have been all over in the media," Charles Taylor told Angel TV.

Charles Taylor was the star at Hearts of Oak alongside Bernard Don Bortey in the early 2000's before leaving for Asante Kotoko in 2003.

Afriyie Barniah is already being touted as a legend at the club after helping the team ending an 11-year wait for the league title, and winning the FA Cup for a second consecutive year.
