Andre Ayew expects to be involved in Marseille’s French Lique 1 game against Bastia despite his suspension.

The 23-year-old was shown a straight red during last weekend’s 1-0 win at Lorient.

Andre alongside Lorient goalkeeper Fabien Audard were sent off as tempers flared among both sets of players.

But Marseille have lodged an official appeal against the referee’s decision claiming the retired Ghanaian international was only trying to separate the ensuing brawl and calm down tempers at the Stade Yves Allainmat-Le Moustoir.

He says he’s innocent of the charge being leveled against him and expects to play at the Stade Velodrome against Bastia on Saturday.

“The club is expecting a decision but I am preparing to play because frankly I have nothing to reproach myself,” Ayew said

“I went into a healing process. I got to Audard and told him: what are you doing?

“I was very surprised at the reaction of the referee. I also discussed with him before the red card. I told him it was mistake.

“I told him to report if he had a doubt, and it would be the commission viewing, he would not budge and pulled out the red card.

“But I really refute any violent behavior in this episode.”

The French disciplinary committee is yet to rule on the appeal.
