Aston Villa legend Tony Morley reserves praise for Jordan Ayew as Claret and Blues near relegation

Aston Villa legend Tony Morley has singled out Jordan Ayew for praise while lashing out at senior members of the squad for the side's calamitous campaign.

The Claret and Blues are on the brink of relegation after a poor campaign this term.

They travel to Old Trafford on Saturday knowing a defeat will consign them to the second-tier of English football next season.

The quest to avoid the drop appears extremely humongous after recording just three wins from 33 games.

But at the heart of a forgettable season, has been the impressive individual display from Jordan Ayew.

Ayew, 24, has produced some stellar performances for the Villans despite a catastrophic group display.

And club legend Tony Morley has reserved praise for Ayew while criticizing the senior members of the current squad.

He said: "I think Ayew deserved a goal. He was a decent player, but some of the experienced players have got to look at themselves this season and think, 'Have I done enough for this club?'

"I think there's one or two of them who have got to take a look at themselves because what people say is the truth - they just haven't done enough for the club.

"This is a fantastic football club and some of these players will be leaving and will not get a better club."

The Ghana international has emerged strongly on the radar of West Ham United.
