Ghana have been handed a tough draw to play defending champions Equatorial Guinea in next month's African Women's Championship.

The Black Queens will also face Cameroon and Algeria in Group B of the tournament in South Africa.

The Black Queens, which failed to progress past the Group stage at the last championship two years ago, face a difficult task of avoiding early elimination.

Equatorial Guinea beat South Africa 1-0 on home soil to win the African title for the first to end Nigeria's dominance of the women's game on the continent.

Ghana have played 2008 semi-finalists Cameroon five times in the previous tournaments-won four and lost once (at the 2004 edition).

Qualifying to the final of the championship will earn the Black Queens a ticket to play at next year's Fifa Women's World Cup finals in Germany.

Hosts Bayana Bayana face a stern test against record-five time winners Nigeria in Group A which includes debutants Tanzania and Mali.

The 7th edition of the Africa Women Championship will be played from 31 October -14 November at the Sinaba Stadium in Daveyton and Makhulong Stadium in Tembisa.
