Bloem Celtic coach impressed with trialist Ransford Osei

Bloemfontein Celtic coach Clinton Larsen says trialist Ransford Osei looked ‘sharp’ and ‘showed his qualities’ in a recent friendly match.

The Ghana international striker is hoping to resurrect his career with Phunya Sele Sele in the South African Premier League having recently returned from injury.

He has spent the last few weeks in Bloemfontein, where he initially only worked on regaining his fitness, but has now had some game-time too.

“We played a friendly game on Wednesday and I used him for 35 minutes in that,” Larsen has told MTNFootball.com.

“He looked very sharp and I must say he showed some of the qualities that we hoped we would see in him. I was impressed with the way he played after such a long time out.

“We have another friendly game on Monday and he will get more game-time then. We will continue to look at him for the next while. He has committed to spending as much time as it takes with us, but we also do not want to drag things out too long.”

Osei faces competition for a contract at Celtic from Nigerian forward Okechukwu Nwadike and Nigerien striker Seydou Idrissou, who are both also on trial at the club.

With just one foreigner place remaining this season, it looks like a shoot-out between those three.
