Stuttgart plan to make the loan signing of Arsenal’s central defender Konstantinos Mavropanos a permanent one, but only if the club stay in the Bundesliga this campaign.
The Greek star is spending his second campaign on loan at the German club, where he’s proving to be a big hit.
He has featured in all seven of his team’s games so far this season, netting twice, most recently at the weekend in a big victory over Hoffenheim.
Konstantinos is very unlikely to have a future back at Arsenal, and although Stuttgart suffer something of a shock relegation, the ace looks certain to stay on in the Bundesliga with the club.
Ex-Arsenal head of recruitment Sven Mislintat is now Die Schwaben sporting director and he has revealed the nature of the agreement his current club has in place with the Gunners.
He said, via The Sun: ‘We have a purchase obligation of three million euros (£2.5m) if we remain in the league.’
It is not out of the question that they could be relegated, but they are surely not one of the favourites, starting the term with two wins, two draws and three losses.
