Right to Dream US boss John Powers  has no doubt the project will be a huge success in Africa with Ghana being used as the starting point.Â
The renowned academy will launch the first residential Girls Academy in Africa next month after a successful completion of the final phase of recruitment.
Over 1000 girls from Ghana and neighbouring Ivory Coast have been screened with fourteen of them expected to be ushered into the first generation of RtD Girls Academy.
The Academy’s US chief believes the conditions are suitable for a big take off.
“This programme is a 100 percent certain to be successful. One of the key factors in the Girls Academy is, “it’s the only development project I know in Africa that has no risk.†Powers said
“We know we can find the girls, we have done the trials, we know they can play; we know they are smart, we have tested them.
“We know they have character and character can be built, and we know that Right to Dream can deliver that.â€
Building on the success of the Academy’s talent development model for boys which has produced many up and coming stars including Abdul Majeed Waris, David Accam and Mohammed Abu, the academy believes it’s time for a further expansion of their vision to provide the same opportunity for girls
The academy which was set-up in 1999 by ex-Manchester United African chief scout Tom Vernon has combined the development of football talent through education.
