CHELSEA denied reports about John Terry release

Published on: 13 December 2016

Chelsea have denied reports that John Terry has been told he will be released at the end of the season. It has been claimed that the 36-year-old held talks with the club and was told they would seek a new role for him when his contract expires.

But Chelsea head of communications Steve Atkins said at a press conference today: "It’s a little early in the season for stories like this to come out.

"It’s the kind of discussion that we have with players in the last year of their contract, but much later in the season. That discussion has not taken place between John and the club. It’s something that will be discussed later in the season, not for now.”
