Dwarfs bring Hearts down to earth with 3-1 victory

Ebusua Dwarfs recorded their first Ghana Premier League win of the season after shocking Hearts of Oak 3-1 at the Tema Park on Saturday.

Midfielder John Arthur underlined his impressive scoring form against Hearts by snatching the opener in the 39th minute.

But defender Nuru Suley restored parity for the Phobians three minutes before the break.

Hearts goalkeeper Sammy Adjei failed to deal with a Prince Appiah innocuous drive from the edge of the box on 49 minute to give Dwarfs the lead again.

Substitute Bright Lukeman was fouled inside the box and he stepped up to send Sammy Adjei the wrong way to put the game beyond Hearts.

Hearts were hoping to maintain their impressive display against New Edubiase United last weekend while Dwarfs were aiming for their first win of the season.

Both sides squandered glorious chances in the opening 30 minutes.

A well-rehearsed free-kick in the 29th minute found Mahatma Otoo in an advantageous position but the Hearts captain blasted wide.

Striker Edward Affum watched his header acrobatically palmed away by the Foli Adade in the 35th minute.

While Hearts were piling the pressure in search of the opening goal, Dwarfs took the lead.

The Hearts defence failed to deal with a goalmouth melee and as a Kwame Frimpong cross was connected home by Arthur.

The travelling fans had just three minutes to jubilate as Nuru Suley levelled the scoring for Hearts.

Appiah restored the lead for Dwarfs when he fired a harmless drive which managed to beat Sammy Adjei.

Professor Mintah's side sealed the win when Lukeman converted from the spot five minutes from time.

Defender Godwin Osei Bonsu fouled him inside the box and he stepped up to send a low drive home.
