New Edubiase are not happy with the choice of referee Awal Mohammed

New Edubiase are unhappy with the choice of referee Awal Mohammed for their Premier League game against Berekum Chelsea on Sunday.

The Bekwa-based side have protested the appointment of the controversial centre man for the crunch tie against the Blues insisting his safety cannot be guaranteed.

Edubiase chief William Asare has voiced out his unhappiness with Mohammed’s choice fearing he could face the wrath of his supporters.

“We don’t want Awal Mohammed. He has shown over the years that he has something against us (Edubiase) and so we cannot guarantee his safety,” Asare said

“We don’t want him to officiate the match. We’ve had experiences with him in the past when we played Aduana and Berekum Chelsea.

“He is the same referee who disallowed two penalty kicks from Kotoko during the President Cup match against Berekum Chelsea.

“If he decides to put the laws of the game into his own hands, I don’t know what will happen to him.

“I am going to call the Premier League Board Chairman (Welbeck Abra-Appiah) to protest vehemently.”

Referee Mohammed has courted many controversies in the West African country over the years.
