Ghanaian midfielder William Opoku Asiedu has completed a move to Indian I-League 2nd Division side FC Bengaluru United for the 2020/2021 campaign.

The ex-Ghana U20 player signed a one-year contract with the side after ending his stay with Bhawanipore FC after the 2019/2020 season.

Opoku played for Ghana Division One side Okyeman Planners scoring 11 goals in 2016 before joining English side Middlesbrough FC in 2017.

He played on loan at Estonian side FCI Levadia in February 2017 before joining Minerva Punjab in India in September 2017.

The 23-year-old moved to Ozone FC also in India in March 2019 and later signed for BSS Sporting in July 2019.

A statement on the club’s official website read:

William Opoku is a professional footballer from Ghana, who has represented his country at the U20.

He has played for Minerva Punjab in the I League – in fact it was his goal against Churchill Brothers that was instrumental in helping Minerva claim the 2018 I-League title!

He has also played for Bhawanipore as part of the Calcutta Football League.

He brings with him a keen sense of gameplay, great anticipation and we welcome him to the Bengaluru United family!
