FEATURE: A passionate appeal to the Chiefs and people of Bekwai to keep New Edubiase At the Gyamfi Park
Current state of the Nana Gyamfi Park in Bekwai

Just yesterday a report on Dess FM suggested the one Mr. Ofori has threatened to stop New Edubiase United to account for all the gate proceeds they have taken at Bekwai or risk being sacked from using the Gyamfi Park again.

I don't think there is anything bad in asking for accountability but I am seeing the hands of detractors at work.

What was the agreement between the Bekwai Traditional Council and New Edubiase when they applied for the usage of the Park?

Was the Traditional Council taking charge of the maintenance of the field or it was New Edubiase United?

What has been the major contribution of the Traditional Council in keeping the Park in terms of beatification?

These are legitimate questions that I think the said Mr. Ofori should provide answers to.

It is a major issue of greater concern.

Our leaders in Bekwai are sleeping and the earlier they wake up, the better.

They have made politics the major raw material there neglecting football which unifies the people and bring joy.

When New Edubiase came to Bekwai, even though they failed to take any Bekwai boy to play in the team, they have contributed in drumming the name of the community in the ears of the international world.

Wherever the club is mentioned, u will hear 'The Bekwai-based' club.

If our leaders really understand what football will do for the community, they would have long fuelled their own team to get into the Premiership.

Look at what Nana Agyemang Badu (Dormaahene) is doing with Aduana Stars. Is it not encouraging?

MPs in Techiman are seriously working together to get Techiman City FC into the Premier League.

Yet, we won't look for ours and the one that has brought us fame, New Edubiase United, we are making them slip out of our hands. Goodness me!

We will regret heavily if we don't take care and allow this club to leave.

We had opportunity of hosting Neoplan Stars, Amansie United and Cornerstone at a point. What did we make of that opportunity? Nothing!

All we know is to chastise and criticise. It's good to criticise but let's do it suggestively. Let's give suggestions as to what should be done and not always be looking for someone to blame for something.

The park will be a forest in no time as soon as New Edubiase leaves Bekwai since farmers have even started cultivating maize and other cereals beside it.

If the people of Bekwai know what is good for them, they should make sure they woo New Edubiase back to the place.

They should liase with the Municipal Assembly to renovate the park with the support of the MP to ensure we don't regret.

I was personally sent to the place by Abdul Salam Yakubu a few weeks back with an architect to survey the place and give us a design for the construction of a modern stadium.

The design is ready. It's just left for Yakubu to meet the chief with it and see the way forward, then someone goes on air and make baseless calls.

This is a man (Yakubu) who has dedicatingly contributed his little hard-won cash into the maintenance of the facility.

Let the people of Bekwai boldly tell me if they have been able to do something to improve the field in the absence of New Edubiase.

What do they hope to achieve with such inferior tactics of wizardry that always seeks to draw the community back?

This will not take Bekwai anywhere.

The best for them is to settle with the Premier League side and see the way forward rather than playing the destructive strategy of killing the life of the community.

New Edubiase was forced to play in Obuasi because the PLB felt the park needed upgrading.

What did the chief and people of Bekwai do when Salam called for all hands on deck to restructure the facility? They coiled.

So whoever is in charge of the facility should look at the positive picture in maintaining New Edubiase at Bekwai.

In any case, who loses when New Edubiase United leaves Bekwai?

My Bekwai needs spiritual bath.
