Fiorentina defender Marcos Alonso has hailed his side’s fighting spirit as they came back from a goal down to defeat Inter 2-1 at home on Sunday evening.

The win sees the Viola cement their place in third in Serie A as they move four points ahead of Inter, who slip down to fifth, and Alonso has been keen to praise his team for their efforts in addition to fans’ support.

“This team and these fans never give up,” said Alonso, via his social media accounts.

“What a great win last night!”

The Spaniard has proved to be instrumental to Paulo Sousa’s squad so far this season, earning himself a regular spot in the starting line-up, in favour of former captain Manuel Pasqual.

Alonso was even involved in the winning goal against the Nerazzurri, as he fed the ball to Mauro Zarate before Khouma Babacar eventually knocked it in to the back of the net.
