Fiorentina's Castrovilli identifies Ronaldo the best and says KDB is phenomenal

Gaetano Castrovilli talks about his childhood Fiorentina dream, working on his finishing and his admiration for Kevin de Bruyne. ‘He’s phenomenal.’

It’s hard to believe this is the 23-year-old’s debut Serie A season, but he has become a Viola stalwart, contributing three goals and two assists in 24 top flight games.

“Ever since I was a child, it was my dream to play with the Fiorentina Number 10 jersey,” he confessed to Sky Sport Italia.

“Giancarlo Antognoni really set the example and I am so fortunate to have him as part of the Fiorentina staff, so I can see him every day at training.”

Vincenzo Montella gave Castrovilli his big break, but Beppe Iachini is on the Viola bench now.

“Iachini wants me to become more effective, provide more assists and more goals. I stayed behind many times after training with the coach to work on my finishing.

“I learned from Franck Ribery, a man who has won everything and yet still wants to improve every day. He’s an extraordinary person and player.”

Castrovilli was asked which players inspired him the most, both inside Serie A and abroad.

“I often watch the Premier League and think De Bruyne is just phenomenal. I hope to get better every year, just as he has. The best player I ever faced was obviously Cristiano Ronaldo, but Sassuolo’s Jeremie Boga really impressed me too.”
