Gareth Bale's agent is said to have 'laughed off' suggestions that his client could join La Liga side Getafe this summer.

On Wednesday, Getafe sporting director Angel Torres sent shockwaves through the footballing world when he claimed that Bale's representatives had offered the club the chance to sign the Welshman.

“I spoke with Gareth Bale's representative. They have offered him to us. We have to study it with the Getafe coaching staff and sports management," he said.

However, reports have since suggested that this surprising transfer rumour will short-lived. Several transfer insiders, including Fabrizio Romano, have indicated that Joshua Barnett - who represents Bale - has laughed off the idea, claiming he does not even have the Torres' number.

Although Getafe are seemingly out of the race, Bale could still secure a surprising move this summer.

90min understands that hometown club Cardiff City remain in contention for a dream double swoop for Bale and Aaron Ramsey.

Bale is thought to be willing to take a significant pay cut at his next club and the Bluebirds hope the fact that he was born in the Welsh capital will help them convince him to step down to the Championship.

Meanwhile, Ramsey has 12 months left to run on his Juventus contract but he is looking to move on from the Serie A giants early this summer.
