Ghana defender Harrison Afful to play under new coach at Esperance

Harrison Afful will play under new coach Nabil Maaloul who was re-appointed by Esperance to replace Michel Decastel.

Swiss Decastel was sacked due to the team's recent poor run of form in recent matches.

Last Wednesday's 1-0 defeat to Club Sportif Sfaxien in the Tunisian Premier League did not help matters.

Maaloul, 49, won Esperance's first African Champions League title since 1994 after beating Wydad Casablanca of Morocco 1-0 in last year's final.

Afful scored the trophy winning show.

"I agreed with the Esperance chairman that we will sign new players for the coming season," Maaloul was quoted as saying on the club's official website.

"I will travel to France on Sunday to terminate my contract with Al Jazeera," Maaloul added.
