The Black Stars will be based in the newly developed Gabonese area called Villa Ngoni at next year’s Africa Cup of Nations, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

The area is located 45 kilometers from the city of Franceville where Ghana will be playing all of its group games.

A combined Ghanaian delegation of management and technical personnel will travel to verify facilities at the newly built site.

Ghana FA boss, Kwasi Nyantakyi is convinced it is the right place to plot Ghana’s fifth African Cup triumph even though there are no other alternatives if conditions are deemed unfavourable by the delegation.

“Villa Ngoni is a confirmed base for the Black Stars during the Nations Cup, there are no other alternatives,” he told GHANAsoccernet.com.

“A delegation will be sent to check out the place but I am well informed of the advantages basing there and therefore I am convinced it will turn out good for us.

“The place is away from human activity and in tournaments like these I think it is very much needed to keep the team’s focus with minimum distraction.”

Cote d’Ivoire were reportedly interested in taking the venue for their team but Ghana emerged as the preferred choice.

The Black Stars will open their Nations Cup account on January 24 against debutants Botswana and will also play Guinea and Mali in their other Group D matches.
