Ghanaian forward Ernest Asante joins Cypriot-topflight side AEK Larnaca on loan

Cypriot top-flight AEK Larnaca have announced the signing of Ghanaian forward Ernest Asante on loan from Doxa Katokopias

The 33-year-old joins Larnaca on loan from fellow Cypriot side Doxa Katokopias.

Asante is expected to fill the void left by Bruno Gama, who is currently injured at the club.

In a statement, the club said, "it is pleased to announce the acquisition, on a one-year loan from Doxa, of the international Ghanaian midfielder Ernest Asante.

The Doxa forward successfully completed the necessary medical examinations and then signed the relevant contracts.

Asante played in the first 2 matches of the league with Doxa, while in the previous 2 years he made 52 total appearances and scored 12 goals with Omonia. He previously played successively in Belgium with KSK Beveren (27 appearances, 3 goals), in Norway with Start and Sttabæk (62 appearances, 14 goals), in Denmark with FC Nordsjælland (68 appearances, 21 goals), in the United Arab Emirates with Al Jazira (24 appearances, 8 goals) and Al-Fuijairah (7 appearances) and in Saudi Arabia with Al-Hazem (9 appearances). and to The AEK family welcomes him and wishes him every success."

Having started his career in Ghana with Feyenoord, Asante went on to play for a host of clubs abroad including KSK Beveren, Maxbee's FC, IK Start, Stabæk Fotball, Nordsjaelland, Al-Jazira, Al-Hazem, Fujairah SC and Omonia Nicosia.
