The legend of Lawrence Ati-Zigi in Saint Gallen shirt continues to grow after swashbuckling displaying in their 3-3 draw against Young Boys in the Swiss Super League on Sunday.

St Gallen looked to be cursing to victory against defending champions Young Boys during top of the table clash at the Kybunpark Stadium only for VAR to ruin their night.

The Green and White lads were given a 10th minute lead through Betim Fazliji but Young Boys fought back to score twice courtesy Jean-Pierre Nsame and Nicolas Moumi Ngamaleu on the stroke of half time.

But an own goal by Jordan Lefort brought St Gallen level before Lukas Görtler‘s fierce strike appeared to have won them the match.

However, Young Boys were awarded a last-gasp penalty which left their fans at the stadium frustrated.

Referee Alain Bieri adjudged Miro Muheim to have handled the ball in the box in the 96th minute.

Guillaume Hoarau stepped to take the penalty but his effort was thwarted by Ati-Zigi — only for the referee to order for the ball to be retaken.

The French striker made no mistake with his second attempt as he drew level for the visitors.

According to the referee, the Ghana goalie moved off the line too early.

“We have no room for interpretation. This information went to the clubs before the season. And I told the goalie before executing the penalty that he had to stay on the line with his foot before the penalty was executed,” referee Bieri stated.

“I am not sorry, the instructions are clear and the information has flowed. I would rather not have done it if I didn't have to, but I have no choice.”

St Gallen are siting at the summit of the standings with 45 points, same as Young Boys, but with superior goal difference.
