Published on: 28 December 2015

Napoli forward Gonzalo Higuain has expressed his desire to win the Scudetto this season, whilst also saying the Partenopei can challenge for the Europa League and the Coppa Italia.

Higuain has been in breathtaking form this season and after 17 games in Serie A he has 16 goals and two assists to his name.

“It’s been a long year and we’ve reached two semi-finals but right now the balance is positive.” said Higuain in an interview with Premium Sport.

“I’m sorry for the last game of last season when we failed to qualify in the Champions League but this year things are going well, I hope 2016 can be even better.

“[Maurizio] Sarri is a great coach, I thank him, the club and all my teammates who have helped me this season.

“I am happy to stay at Napoli; the positive results mean that things are easier and on a personal level I have found a peace of mind that I didn’t have before.

“Sarri has improved me and helped me find peace, my family are also very important, they are my rock and thanks to them I’m where I am right now. ”

Higuain also praised the Napoli fans for supporting him as well as stating his desire to battle for the Scudetto.

“The fans make me feel special, I feel unique to them because of their passion,” said the Argentine.

“As long as there is a mathematical chance to win the Scudetto we will fight for it, but we should also think about the Coppa Italia and the Europa League.

“I hope next year I’ll improve even more and do great things with this team.

“I wish a great 2016 to all Napoli fans. We hope to win together.”
