Cameroon have invited Asante Kotoko striker Franck Mbella Etouga for the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The attacker's impressive performances in the Ghana Premier League have earned him his first call-up.

Etouga is the league's top scorer with 19 goals and is on track to break Ismahel Addo's record of scoring the most goals (22) in a single season.

The Cameroon FA, which is led by former Barcelona and Inter Milan great Samuel Eto'o, has been watching Etouga and believes he deserves to be invited.

"Within the framework of the qualification matches for the "AFCON TOTAL ENERGIES 2023, Ivory Coast", Cameroon's Senior Men's National Team will play official matches during the FIFA break running from 30th of May to 14th June 202; 4th June 2022 Cameroon vs Kenya [and] 8th June 2022 Burundi vs Cameroon" Cameroon FA's letter to Etouga read.

"In this perspective, a preparatory training camp will be held during the aforementioned FIFA break which runs from 30th May to 14th June."
