Juventus announce squad for UEFA Champions League group stages

Published on: 01 September 2021

Juventus has announced their 23-man squad for this season's UEFA Champions League group stages following the closure of the Italian transfer window.

The Italian giants were handed a relatively kind group stage draw for the current campaign, and are set to face off against European champions Chelsea (not-so-kind draw), Zenit St. Petersburg (not the nicest away trip, but winnable games) and Malmo (should be easy games) in Group H.

And to beat those three teams, new Juve manager Massimiliano Allegri has announced a 23-man squad full of familiar faces:

Rodrigo Bentancur
Federico Bernardeschi
Leonardo Bonucci
Giorgio Chiellini
Federico Chiesa
Juan Cuadrado
Danilo
Matthijs de Ligt
Mattia De Sciglio
Paulo Dybala

Dejan Kulusevski
Alex Sandro
Manuel Locatelli
Weston McKennie
Alvaro Morata
Mattia Perin
Carlo Pinsoglio
Adrien Rabiot
Arthur Melo
Aaron Ramsey
Daniele Rugani
Wojciech Szczesny

Notable in his absence from the 23-man squad is Cristiano Ronaldo, who was sold to Manchester United in the final days of the transfer window, while new signing Kaio Jorge and highly-rated Luca Pellegrini have also been excluded in favour of Mattia De Sciglio and Federico Bernardeschi.

Some new signings have been into the squad however, with Euro 2020 winner Manuel Locatelli making the cut, after signing on a two-year loan from Sassuolo, and Moise Kean, who re-joined the club on another two-year loan (yep, two-year loans are a big thing in Italy right now) from Everton on deadline day, have been included.

La Vecchia Signora kick-start their Champions League campaign with a trip to Malmo, before welcoming Chelsea to the Allianz Stadium on matchday two for what promises to be a blockbuster clash.
