Karembeu: Zidane is a winner, and winners don't resign

Published on: 04 December 2020

Christian Karembeu is confident that Zinedine Zidane will turn things around at Real Madrid and he doesn't expect his countryman to walk away from the tough job he has at Valdebebas.

Madrid have struggled to start the 2020/21 campaign, but Karembeu believes that Zidane has what it takes to reverse the situation.

"He's the man who has the keys to lift Real Madrid back up," Karembeu told T4, celebrating his birthday.

"He has difficulties now, but I know he'll respond with wins. He's a winner and winners don't resign."

Another Frenchman who has had difficulties of late is Antoine Griezmann, though he appears to have turned his form around at Barcelona.

"He has freed himself with the interview he did," Karembeu added.

"Now we're going to see the Griezmann that we've known for years."

Kylian Mbappe is regularly linked with a move to Real Madrid, which is something that the 1998 World Cup winner would like to see.

"I hope he goes to Madrid," Karembeu confessed. "But it depends on the player.

"I think if Zidane stays, he'll come."
