Ghana midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng could miss AC Milan's Serie A opener against Cagliari on Saturday due to a fresh calf injury.

San Siro medical team are running against time to get the 24-year-old, who scored a classy opener against Juventus in the Berlusconi Trophy, fit for the trip for the defending champions.

Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri says the club are looking at players in the treatment board.

"Boateng injured his calf, Taiwo suffered a twist while we will have a look at Flamini tomorrow."

Boateng played in key role in Milan's title campaign and has been in top shape during the pre-season.

The former Germany youth start has been excluded from the Ghana squad for next month's double header against Swaziland and Brazil.
