Kotoko jet out for Tanzania assignment

Asante Kotoko left Accra on Thursday afternoon to play a combined side of Simba FC and Young Africans in a commemorative match in Tanzania.

The club departed from the Kotoka International Airport in Accra without their top scorer Ahmed Toure who is in Egypt for a medical.

Head coach Maxwell Konadu's strong 18-man squad included veteran Stephen Oduro and in-form striker Nathaniel Asamoah.

Rugged midfielder Yahaya Mohammed could not make the trip due to injury.

The team will transit in Cairo for four hours before landing in Dar-Es Salem.

The match will be played on Sunday 11 December at 11:00 GMT.

Kotoko last visited Tanzania in 2005 for pre-season under veteran trainer EK Afranie where they beat Simba FC 1-0 and drew 1-1 with Young Africans.

The trip is to honour the 50th Independence anniversary of the Eastern African country
