Kumordzi close to Fenerbahce deal

Published on: 19 May 2010

Ghana international midfielder Bernard Yao Kumordzi is on the verge of joining Turkish giants Fenerbahce for 2.6 million euros.

His Greek side Panionios have accepted the offer but the 25-year-old is yet to agree personal terms to complete his move in the summer.

Fenerbahce's sporting director Aykut Kocaman fears the player's economic value will rise if he is chosen to play for Ghana at the World Cup finals.

Kumordzi, hunted by Greek giants Olympiakos, is in no rush to take a decision on his club future.

"My agent has told me of the offers to choose from but for now, my concentration is on the world cup and the Ghana team therefore, many of the clubs that have interest in me may have to wait somehow until after the world cup because there is no rush," Kumordzi told Ghanasoccernet.com

He could earn 60,000 euros per month and enjoy Uefa Champions League football which the player has prioritized.

Fernabache relinquished the Turkish League title to Buraspor on the final day and head coach Christoph Daum is determined to shore up his midfield.

"I do not believe in big names in team building but players with the talent, energy, desire and hunger for football success, and I find that in the Kumordzi," Daum said.

kumorzi is named in Ghana's preliminary 30-man squad for the World Cup finals.

To my notion, Kumordzi has has taken the best of decisions provided his inclusion in the final 23 is guranteed.

No he cannot sign for any English club for now because he has not played up to 75 percent of senior national team football in the last 2 years therefore will not get a work permit. Fernabache is a big big club in Europe and when he shines there, can easily play for any of the top 5 clubs in the world. So my brotherly advice is for him to take this opportunity then go step by step until he gets to his desired club. I have seen him a couple of times in the Greek league and my opinion is that, the guy is simply fantastic. His weakness is pace. But as a midfielder, that does not matter too much. I also saw his interview yesterday on e tv with Yaw Ampofo Anhrah and i must say,i see greatness in the boy Kumordzi. The guy is relax, humble, and determined. For the first time,i heard that Kumordzi started football at division 6 back in Sweden and he rose from div 6 straight to div 1 in Sweden before moving to Greece which has set a record as the only player in Swedish football history to experience that.AMAZING

its would have been good but the player himself said he will like to go to germany or france first and then may be premiership later, he said that on eTV yesterday!

Ok so if the Germany of France deal does not come, and there is Fernabache mouth watering deal on the table which is far far better than his current club,do you say because its not germany or france, you won't take it?Fernabche is is bigger and richer than 70% of German clubs and 90% richer and bigger than french clubs.

Kumordjie is a great player. I have watched him played several times in the Greek league and I think he has great future but I think he needs to work harder on his speed. God will push him further and further.

i'm not surprise a coach like christopher daum is admirer of kumordzi, its too bad that milo dont see what some of the best coaches sees on kumordzi.this guy is all round player who can add quality to the stars and match any player in the world¨.we dont talk for nothing,i hope and pray that the nepotism and the favouritism does not affect his inclusion in the 23 man squard,so ghanaians will see what we've been seeing in this lovely chap.i keep on saying,he's better than badu and annan after watching and comparing them.

I agree with Saba...I think Kumordzi is better than Badu & Annan, plus we get the height advantage. Unfortunately, I have a feeling a half match fit Appiah & a less than 25% playing time Badu will be chosen ahead of him.

Wow!Am not surprise at all.Cuz Kumodzie has been one of the consistent Ghanaian players in EU this season.Imaging a player appearing in all of the matches of the season and just substituted only once which was even in the dying minutes of the game. This tells you how consistent he has been for his club (Panionios) this season and am not surprise that Fenerbache are in interested in him.I think he should go for the deal cuz Fenerbache is one of the biggest clubs in EU and he will get more exposure especially when playing in the Uefa Champions League. All the best Kumo,u will definitely be included in the final 23 man squad ahead of those inactive and bench warmers.

i dont know anything about Kumordzi.but we love so much Appiah.he was our braveheart.and he plays with his heart on the pitch.if Kumordzi is as good as Appiah or better than him,we will love and support him.we miss Appiah so much, our "Kara Bo?a" a.k.a. "Black Bull" with his strong and obstinacy.we have so much respect for him.
