LA LIGA - Benzema a fresh doubt for Champions League semi-final

Published on: 23 April 2016

Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema is an injury doubt ahead of the Champions League semi-final with Manchester City on Tuesday after limping out of action against Rayo Vallecano.

In a similar fashion to the match against Wolfsburg in Germany, Benzema was forced off before the break, this time with discomfort in his knee. The French striker had to ask to be subbed by coach Zinedine Zidane and left the field limping, with Lucas Vázquez replacing him.

Real Madrid will monitor the injury over the next few days to see if the forward can play at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester on Tuesday.

His last injury was a heavy blow to the left thigh against Wolfsburg, however he did recover in time to play the second leg at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Zidane expects the Frenchman to recover in time for the meeting against Manchester City, but only time will tell as to whether they will have him in perfect condition.
