Luton come from two down to beat Owls

Luton striker Elijah Adebayo scored his first goal for the club on Tuesday

Elijah Adebayo capped a second-half rally with a late winner as Luton came from 2-0 down to beat Sheffield Wednesday.

Josh Windass' first-half double gave Wednesday a comfortable half-time lead, but Luton manager Nathan Jones made a triple substitution at the break.

The move was soon rewarded as Kal Naismith flicked in Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall's corner before Adebayo's low cross was powered home by Ryan Tunnicliffe to bring Luton level.

Adebayo then completed the comeback, heading home Harry Cornick's cross at the far post, as Luton saw out seven minutes of stoppage-time.

Callum Paterson was played into the right-hand side of the area and his low cross found Windass' run to the near post to turn home from inside the six-yard box for his fifth goal of the season.

A high cross from the right-hand touchline was then allowed to bounce twice and sat up kindly for Windass to run onto and blast in with his right boot.

But the game turned after Jones rang the changes at half-time, and the Hatters were back in the game within five minutes through Naismith's first goal since joining the club from Wigan in January.

And after Tunnicliffe's quick equaliser another transfer-window signing won it for the home side.

Adebayo was signed from Walsall for an undisclosed fee on deadline day and his winning goal handed Luton just a second win in eight Championship matches.

The Hatters sit 14th, while Wednesday are six points from safety in 23rd after Birmingham's comeback win against QPR.
