Lyon manager Rudi Garcia delighted 'important' Memphis Depay is back from injury

Head coach of French Ligue I side Olympique Lyon, Rudi Garcia says it feels 'great' to have Dutch born Ghanaian forward Memphis Depay back from injury.

Depay suffered a serious injury in January during Lyon's 1-0 defeat to Stade Rennes in the league, but the 26-year old has fully recovered and played in the club's friendly against Swiss amateur side US Port Valais. Depay scored the opener in the 12-0 thrashing.

"He was good in all areas," Garcia told the official website of the club. "Although we played against amateurs, we took the game seriously, with respect for the opponent. It is great that Memphis is back.

"He can be an important asset for us, just like Jeff Reine-Adélaïde. They reassured us. I saw no fear in their game," he added.

Despite his prowess going forward, Rudi Garcia was also impressed by the Netherlands international's defensive duty.

"He also did his job defensively and was actually good in all areas, especially by playing simply," he said.

The 26-year old joined the French giants in 2017 from Manchester United.
